Also - and you may have written this elsewhere - what is something you learnt from your time with Gary that you still find useful? x

Oooh love this one. So easy: honestly Gary is one of the most genuinely kind humans and he has a gift for being present with you one-on-one (even in a huge stadium of people).

oooo, love that. such a good reminder that those qualities are valuable and memorable and worth holding onto, too!

Thank you so much for the mention in your beautiful piece. I am thrilled to finally learn the real definition of success "a happy consequence or a good result or an outcome that makes one feel content”. My definition of success too has evolved greatly over the last few years.

I thoroughly enjoyed your piece too! This etymology of success speaks volumes, doesn’t it? Sets it apart entirely from the striving that we tend to associate it with in the West.

So much depth in these posts! I so admire how much of yourself you're putting into them. I also think it's great that you walked away from the big strategy gig without hating everything about it. It was good for a time, then it wasn't, and so you made a change—or at least, that's how I interpreted it.

Kinda the story of my life, the seasons of death/rebirth. I truly don't regret much about anything I've been through. The lived experiences are the best guide to living.

Thanks for always being the first to read and leave your thoughts!

This quote "If we want to change the world, we need to be unrealistic, unreasonable and impossible" makes me smirk. The empiric opposite of what this Southern girl was brought up to be is encapsulated in that one line. And yet, it's all that I hope to be because the alternative - realistic, reasonable, and possible - has never worked to bring me joy. It's time to start employing the "un's" and the "im's" in this life. Thanks for leading the way!

Thanks for being on it with me! The more people I meet who are unwinding their conditioning, the more I’m convinced we can change things for the better ✨

This is such a good and interesting article Justine. It took me a long long time to learn there's nothing that says you have to succeed in the same way as someone else. In fact, there's nothing that says you must define success in the same way as someone else. It changed how I define success to myself.

This makes my heart so happy, Pách! It took me a long time too, I was 40 when I had that moment in the boardroom. But once we know better, we do better, right?

Ah, thanks so much for the tag and for this piece! So much to think about. I'm wondering... where are you at with it now? Do you have a sense of what 'success' feels like for you today? Are you there, if it's even a destination?

Ahhhh I always love the way you scratch a bit deeper, Yassmin!! I’m taking this OG definition of contentment and letting that be the guide, for now. No destination other than fostering better, more intimate connections with the people, passions and other things that bring me contentment. I do hope my year of creative exploration will surface a sense of what my future “work” could be and how it can better the world. No more Bullshit Jobs for me!
